NEWS UPDATE FAQS

The following fees and policy changes are effective for tickets purchased on or after July 25th for travel occurring on or after August 15, 2008.

  • Change fee increases to $150.00.
  • Although standby travel is no longer offered we'll do better than that and offer you a confirmed seat! Customers interested in changing their flight on the day of travel will be charged the difference between their original fare and the current fare to be confirmed on the new flight. The change fee will be waived. Any changes to travel on a day other than the original travel date will incur the applicable change fee and additional fare difference.
  • Summit members may standby or confirm an available flight free of charge for the same day as originally ticketed. Any changes to travel on a day other than the original travel date will incur any additional fare difference. The change fee will still be waived.

The following fees and policy changes are effective for tickets purchased on or after
June 10, 2008:

  • Second checked bag - changing from $0 to $25
  • Oversized bags - changing from $50 to $75
  • Overweight bags - changing from $50 to $75
  • Paper Ticket Fee - changing from $25 to $35
  • Checked Pet Fee for 400 series kennels or higher - changing from $100 to $200
  • Unaccompanied Minor Fee - changing from $40 to $50 per segment
  • Antlers - changing from $75 to $100
  • Segway Transporters, Surfboards, Wakeboards, Wave Skis, Kite Boards - changing from $50 to cumulative excess, overweight and oversized fees as applicable
  • Hang Gliding Equipment, Kayak/Canoe, Poles (Vaulting Poles), Windsurfing equipment - cumulative excess, overweight and oversized fees as applicable
  • Pet In Cabin Fee - policy eliminated; no additional bookings will be taken
  • Day before/day after standby - policy eliminated

The policies below are in effect June 10th, regardless of ticket purchase date:

  • Infant seat purchase 50% discount - discount eliminated
  • Day before/day after standby - policy eliminated

The policy below is in effect July 1st:

  • The non-refundable ticketing service fee will be $25.00 for each new ticket purchased and issued through Reservations or at a Frontier Airport Location. This fee does not apply to any tickets purchased through FrontierAirlines.com.


Second Checked Bag Fee

Effective June 10, 2008

Customers who purchase domestic or international tickets on or after June 10, 2008 may check one bag for free and check a second bag for $25 each way. Our carry-on policy of one personal item (such as a purse or laptop bag) plus one bag remains the same.

Summit and Ascent EarlyReturns® members do not pay the 2nd bag fee of $25.00. The excess bag fee of $50.00 applies for the third bag and any additional bags.

Do all customers have to pay to check a bag?
No. Please see exemptions below.

Exemptions
The following customers will not be charged a service fee to check a 2nd bag provided the bag is within the weight and size allowance:
  • For the second checked bag, customers who purchased a ticket before June 10, 2008
  • EarlyReturns® Summit and Ascent members
  • Active duty military personnel

How much will it cost to check my bags?
For flights within the United States (domestic flights):
  • Bag 1 - Complimentary
  • Bag 2 - $25
  • Bag 3 and over - $50 per piece for each additional bag

For flights to/from Mexico, Canada, or Costa Rica:
  • Bag 1 - Complimentary
  • Bag 2 - $25
  • Bag 3 and 4 - $50 per piece
  • Bag 5 and over - $100 per piece

If I am traveling with my child on my lap (so I only have one ticket), and I check one bag and my child's car seat, do I have to pay a second bag fee for the car seat?
No. When traveling with a child, checked car seats and strollers will continue to be free. Other items checked as baggage will be considered part of your free baggage allowance and fees may apply.

If I have a disability and need to check my wheelchair or assistive devices in addition to my bag, do I need to pay a checked bag service fee?
A wheelchair or assistive devices may be checked at no additional charge and will not be part of your checked bag allowance if it is for your personal use.

If I check one bag and a pair of skis, do I have to pay a second bag service fee?
Yes, sports equipment counts toward your free baggage allowance and you would be charged a second bag service fee in addition to an overweight, oversized or excess fee, if applicable. All travel baggage (including but not limited to skis, golf clubs, boxes, suitcases, etc.) count toward your free baggage allowance.

Where can I pay for the baggage fees?
You may pay the baggage fees at the ticket counter.

If I am an EarlyReturns® member when I purchase my ticket but no longer hold Summit or Ascent status as of the date of travel, does the fee apply?
The checked bag service fee determination will be made at time of check in and will be based on your status at that time.

Does this bag policy apply to flights operated by Lynx or Frontier's other regional affiliates?
Yes, this policy applies to Lynx and Frontier's other regional affiliate's flights.

When do these fees apply?
All fees apply based on ticket purchase date.
