TRAVEL TIPS

packing

We asked our employees to share their favorite packing tips. Let's get real... who better to ask than someone who does this for a living? Please enjoy (and take to heart) this "Top Ten" list of packing tips.

#10 - Roll your clothes instead of folding them. It takes less space and lessens wrinkles.

#9 - You know those plastic bags that your newspapers come in? Slide your shoes in them to protect the clothing around them. Also, do you really need all those shoes? A better choice is to bring a pair that can be worn both with dress clothes and jeans.

#8 - Have a color theme for clothes that you are packing so that you can mix and match clothing, and also pack less.

#7 - It's worth the extra money to purchase travel size umbrellas and incidentals. You'll be surprised how much space you save.

#6 - Put anything that can leak (shampoo, lotion, etc) in a plastic zip bag. This way your whole suitcase won't be a mess if something explodes. Also, pack some extra plastic zip bags. They don't take up much space and you'll be surprised at the many uses you'll find for them while on your trip. You can also use a larger one for dirty laundry.

#5 - In the rare case your bag doesn't make the flight with you, always carry at least a change of underwear in your carry-on. ALWAYS PUT YOUR MEDICATIONS IN YOUR CARRY-ON BAG! Even if you aren't sick, bring some "just in case" medicine along.

#4 - Include some wet wipes in your carry-on, especially if you're traveling with children.

#3 - Bring healthy snacks for inflight and during longer layovers. Carrot sticks, granola and health bars are good options.

#2 - For any traveler, but especially men, to speed your way through Security, pack all your loose pocket articles such as change, cell phones, pens, etc. in a plastic zip bag before you leave home. After you pass through Security you can put them back in your pockets.

...and the #1 tip for packing is...

Bring only what you need. Minimize your load and you'll be a much happier traveler.
