TRAVEL INFO & SERVICES

unaccompanied minors

Even though they're on their own, we'll be there to help every step of the way.

Please review the following guidelines and procedures to make sure your unaccompanied minor has a great experience with us.

  • We consider children from ages five to 14 to be unaccompanied minors when traveling without a companion of at least 15 years of age.
  • Children under the age of five must be accompanied by an individual 15 years or older.
  • Children who are age 15 to 17 may also receive the benefits of an unaccompanied minor if the parent or guardian requests special supervision.
  • These young travelers may be booked online at frontierairlines.com, by contacting Reservations at 800-4321-FLY (800-432-1359) or with your local travel agent.
  • We're sorry but we won't accept unaccompanied minors who are under five years of age.
  • Frontier accepts unaccompanied children on connecting flights when:
    • There are multiple connecting-flight options in the stop-over city (even if it is the last flight of the day at the origin city); or
    • It is the only flight of the day at the origin station.
  • Unaccompanied minors are not accepted on flights to/from San Jose, Costa Rica.
  • Children traveling unaccompanied pay a full adult fare. We charge a service fee per segment per child to cover extra handling and free DIRECTV® service.
    • For tickets purchased on or prior to June 9, 2008, the service fee is $40.
    • For tickets purchased on or after June 10, 2008, the service fee is $50.
  • Although they can't vote or drive, passengers who are 15 years of age are defined as adults.
  • We require all of the following information when booking an unaccompanied minor:
    • The name, telephone and address of the adult bringing the child to the airport
    • The name, telephone and address of the adult meeting the child at his or her destination. The designated recipient must be a person and cannot be an organization such as a youth camp.
  • For your child's comfort, we recommend you provide your child with a snack to carry on board or feed him or her before departure. A complimentary snack from Grizwald's Gourmet Café may be provided if available.
    • Product offerings are subject to change.
    • These product may contain nuts, soy, wheat, dairy, or eggs. Snack items are packaged in a facility that processes peanuts and other nuts.

Checking in your unaccompanied child

Because we want your child's travel experience to be as smooth as possible, we recommend that you check in two hours prior to departure. You'll need to escort your child to the gate and wait until the aircraft has taken off before you leave the area. During courtesy boarding, one of our representatives will escort your child onto the plane, assist with any carry-on luggage, and introduce your child to the crew. During the flight your child will receive special attention. He or she will also have a personal escort from the aircraft to the designated pick-up person. At no point will your child be left alone during the drop-off and pick-up points of contact.

We'll only release the child to the designated recipient. The designated recipient must be a person and cannot be an organization such as a youth camp. Advise the party picking up your child to bring his or her photo identification. He or she needs to arrive early enough to obtain a pass to meet your child at the gate immediately upon aircraft arrival. For your child's safety, the child won't be released to the designated recipient until the identification has been reviewed by an F9 employee.

We recognize that the safe transport of your child is your number one concern, and we know the importance of that responsibility. We will provide your child with a safe, comfortable and memorable experience. Please contact Reservations at 800-4321-FLY (800-432-1359) to determine escort restrictions that may be in place due to enhanced airport security measures at your child's city of departure and arrival.
